Exchange BKF Recovery Method

Since electronic mails are becoming the most common and easy medium to communicate with any client, for them distance does not matter. But it is not so safe, as access to these mails can be lost due to some very common causes such as sudden power failures, virus attack, I/O errors and software failure etc that may cause loss of STM, LOG and EDB file, unique Exchange database, and most importantly corruption in Exchange BKF file.

Following are the main reasons that may affect Exchange server database usually:-
  • Hard drive failure
  • Backup interruptions
  • Missing catalogue files
  • Suddenly damage of System software and hardware
  • Virus Attack
  • CRC or (Cyclic Redundancy Check) errors
  • Backup software malfunctioning
So being a Exchange administrator it is your responsibility to take backup with in a regular interval of time for current files and folders from database.

You can do this with NTBackup utility but it is not sure that taking backup from inbuilt utility is successful, it can cause loss of BKF file by resulting in heavy corruption.

Mailbox Brick Level Backup:- This is one of the backup methods. In this you can backup and restore single mail or individual mailbox. No need to take backup of whole database, if you require only few mails or mailboxes.

Drawbacks:-
The main problems with this type of backup are free/busy data and incomplete restoration process. This backup does not provide full protection for Exchange Server database. This backup method is not advisable in order to recover Information Store after damage to Exchange data.

So if it is not satisfactory you can make this task easy with an efficient third party software such as Stellar Phoenix Exchange BKF Recovery tool to recover damaged Backup files. The software is easy to install and provides you the perfect solution to recover backup file under all corruption conditions. Apart from this it also includes many features which are abstract and allow you to save all scan information in a text file that can be used in future. By using demo version which is without fee you can see a preview of your to be recovered BKF files.
