Windows NTBackup Method to Take Backup

In the present world it is very necessary to take regular backup since all things are done on computers not like older days where all work was written in journals. Now if you lost data you may suffer a lot. To avoid this situation you must update your backup in drives, hard disk etc.

There are many methods by which this process can be done. We are going to discuss one of them, that is Windows NTBackup.

This is one of the default backup method and used like others. It comes with package of Windows and takes backup in .bkf format.

Following are the most common drawbacks of Windows NT Backup:-
  • Windows NT Backup is not able to back up files (including hidden files) or directories that user does not own or to which user is not authorized. For the full backup, you must be a member of the Backup Operators group. Since the members of this group can back up items even if they do not have direct ownership or the other specific authentication. Although they are not allowed to read the files, but they can back them up.
  • Home directories are the simple and the most important example of this above step for users on the network. Access to those directories is restricted to every user (including the network administrator) except the owner of the directory since they are the basic. Unless the user who is logged on is a member of the Backup Operators group, only the directories will be backed up, not the files inside through this method.
  • Ensure that the user who will be backing up the files is added (by the network administrator) to the Backup Operators group in User Manager for Domains, otherwise it will not allow to take backup of the data.
  • Windows NT Backup cannot be used to back up registries on remote computers.
  • There are no scheduling capabilities in Windows NT Backup. There is no choice to run this command on the command prompt unless an outside scheduler is used. With an outside scheduler, it only launches the application or batch file. There is no effect of problem or failure during the backup, the schedule will complete just by the launch of the application. User can reset the schedule only when the application completes its task with an internal scheduler.
In such a case when user has taken backup but there is a problem in mounting backup files then you can user Stellar Phoenix Exchange BKF Repair software. It is very much perfect to repair corrupted backup files and extract all your precious data. This Exchange BKF Repair software comes at an affordable price and after scanning saves all recovered information at user preferred location. It is mostly used for Exchange Server 2003 and 2007 versions.
