Reasons Responsible for Exchange BKF Corruption

According to the Client-Server architecture, Outlook is an email client that uses MS Exchange as the Server. The mailboxes of all the Outlook users using the same Exchange Server are stored in a database on this particular Server. For proper functioning and better data management, the Exchange Server divides itself into three major components, which are EDB or Exchange Database file – the primary database of Exchange Server, Transaction log, and Live Streaming Media (or STM) file.

Like the backup of any other data on your computer, it is suggested to maintain the backup of your Exchange Server data as well. For this, Microsoft provides a utility called NTBackup. With the help of NTBackup utility, you can create the backup of your Exchange Server database as .BKF file and save it at a safe location so that you can easily restore your data from it. However, at times you may become unable to restore data from the Exchange backup file due to its corruption. Many reasons are responsible for the corruption of Exchange BKF file and some of the common ones are:
  •  Exchange BKF File Header Corruption: Corruption of the header of your Exchange BKF file is one of the common reasons responsible for failure in the backup restoration process.
  • Interruption in the Backup Process: Interrupted backup process definitely corrupts the BKF file and causes complete inaccessibility of all the data stored on it. Interruption in backup process can occur due to sudden power outage in between the process, and other such reasons. Therefore, it is suggested to take all the necessary precautions to prevent interruption in Exchange backup process.
  • Virus Attack: Another prominent reason responsible for the corruption of Exchange BKF file is virus infection or sudden virus attack. However, if you keep your system protected with effective anti-backup software that has definitions for all latest viruses, then you can easily prevent the BKF corruption due to this reason.

However, if you have an Exchange BKF file, which is corrupt due to any reason, then using a professional Exchange BKF recovery software is recommended. An efficient Exchange BKF recovery tool repairs corrupt or damaged Exchange BKF file and recovers .EDB, .STM, and .Log files. Moreover, if you do not know the location of your BKF file, then too you need not panic as an effective tool searches for your Exchange BKF file in a specific drive and volume.

Exchange BKF recovery software is best to have tool as it keeps you away from loss of your precious backed up data that occurs due to corruption of the Exchange BKF file.
